Modern Lifestyle - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Life style, what has it been for the past few years? A havoc, I should say. I haven't made a detailed analysis on the lifestyle of different people, rather here is my thoughts on what is happening around me. How it was once, and how it is now. There is a definite change in each and every aspect, be it clothing, gadgets, vehicles, food or friends. Things have changed, but a question remains - is it Good? Bad? or Ugly?

So where do I begin? Hm... Virteacon says Technology, and let it be(this would be the major content of this article). Technology is growing at a pace we never imagined, and its definitely making impact on life. There are tons of examples around, wondering what? Let me quote a few I have noticed.
         - Computers! God, what is technology without that intelligent piece of artistry. Let me go back 10 years, computers to kids were like oh my god! That's a Computer! But now, its like the air we breathe? A major turn around. I still remember whining to my parent to own a computer, which went on till I was in 10th grade. And when I owned one, I had strict instructions too - an hour a day(not more!). But now? I see my cousins, who are in 3rd grade, playing Games(Violent, vulgar, and you name it) whenever they want! They own PSP's, poking it around wherever they go, or high end Consoles. Old retro style Sega Video games are history(I still have sweet memories of Contra, and Mario!). Now Computers have gone cheap, easily available, and one of the basic amenities. No Computers? No Future, I guess.

How the Virtual World impacts Your Life

Social Networking is something new, and evolving. People are crazily following it in search of a new life, a new life where you can mould yourself into the one you dream. It is powerful, where you can talk behind a beautiful profile picture, and pretend to be someone else. It's a whole new world created by You. Here is a few points I jotted down way back - Few points to build up your Virtual Personality. People thought this was ultimate, so did I. But recent developments prove that it's not completely Virtual, in the end, it will effect your real life.

How? Recent incidents throw light on it. There are two of them actually, one the case where Employers asked Facebook passwords for an interview, and the other case where Japanese court asks Google to ban Search auto-update. These incidents open up a twist on Social Networking, and its impact on life. It also puts up the importance of something we always ignore - Privacy Policy.

Let's take a look into the first incident. Suppose you are a Social Networking freak, who plays around all day in Facebook, building up your own Yo virtual identity. It may not be the real you, who is a geek and a good individual. You go up to attend an interview for your dream job. After rocking on 3 rounds, in the final round the interviewer asks for your Facebook account and Password! Why? Because it might throw a bit more light into your character. Good move by the employer, but what's going through you? So you give the password, they login to your account, and pop. A message from your virtual friends, which doesn't look so good. Can you convince the Interviewer that the Facebook You, is NOT the real You? NO! Never. That's when you'll realize the impact of your Virtual Identity on you.

A Blogger's drought

Sigh! It's been really long since I've lost the Blogger spirit in me. There was a time when I used to make a couple of posts everyday, on every topic that crosses my mind - be it a journey I made(Konkan Railways), or  a self cooked theory(Internet Life Cycle). I was anxious and vibrant on my thoughts, but as pointed in the "Internet Life Cycle", there was a point of saturation.

And now I face it, a terrible loss of words. However hard I try to find a topic to twiddle on, I land up in no words. Work, lack of time, and the ever changing tech world made me lazy to catch the train I never used to miss. But then I lost track of it, and trying to get back desperately. Desperation does no good over here, all you need is a makeover(I'd rather call it an F5). So here I am, trying to recall my long lost charm on blogging, and trying to rejuvenate the hungry writer in me.

Technology used to me the heart of Virteacon, but now on, I'll be writing what comes to my mind, just to catch my breath - and feel the vibes in me again. In the meantime, I would also like people interested in making Guest Posts to contact me here. And to all the readers out there, I'm running out of ideas! Please shoot them out as comments below, or mail me at author@virteacon.com

Looking forward to a fresh start.
